We entered a picture of Hunky and Dorie in a local newspaper's pet calender contest. People vote for their favorites by calling a number to vote. There's no limit on the number of votes, but each vote costs a quarter. The money goes to charity.

The 15 top vote-getters will be featured in a pet calendar that will be sold with proceeds again going to charity. I voted twenty times :) That's $5; not that much for a charitable contribution.

But the submitted photo is not the one that will appear on the calendar. The winning pets have to be taken to a local photo studio to be photographed for their calendar page. I'm not sure Hunky and Dorie will feel that honored.

The voting continues through the end of the month (I think), and I'm not sure when the winners will be announced.

I'm really on top of this, aren't I?

There is a website for all this. They post the current fifteen front runners on a daily basis. So far, fourteen of the top fifteen are dogs (the fifteenth is a group of three rats). No felines. Hunky and Dorie are not in the running. Which is okay. It's an honor just to be nominated. Right?
