My nephew turned 17 on Saturday. That's significant in NJ because that's the legal driving age. He's been driving under the restrictions of a learner's permit, and doing well. But today he will take his official driving test and become a licensed NJ driver. Not that there aren't still some restrictions. For the first year he can't drive between midnight and 5 am, and he can't have more than one person in the car his own age, unless an adult is also in the car.
There's some other restriction, but I can't remember what it is. When I turned 17, my father had me parallel park in front of the house, then drove me to take my driving test, and then I was a driver with no restrictions. But that was then.
We celebrated his birthday this weekend. It was one of our typical birthday celebrations hosted by his mother. There was food, conversation, food, presents and food. Among his loot was a Wii Fit, something I've wanted. The fitness program that comes with it is very regimented. Which I need. Think.
So my nephew gets his license and there's a Wii Fitness program in my future. Time marches on.
