A couple months ago I entered Hunky and Dorie in a Pet Calendar Contest. The top fifteen would be featured in a calendar to be sold for charity. But the winners were picked by the public, who voted by phone. Each phone call cost a quarter (proceeds to charity), and winners were determined by how much cash they accumulated.

Hunky and Dorie, however, did not make the top fifteen, despite my best efforts ($25 worth of votes).

The winners were fourteen dogs and pig triplets (entered as a unit). No cats. Seems unfair. But the winners had to be photographed for the calendar at a studio, and I just can't see Hunky and Dorie sitting quietly in a setting with props while a photographer takes light readings. So it probably all worked out for the best.

I dunno if I'll buy the calendar, discriminating against cats as it does, but I probably will. Charity, y'know.
