A friend at work is in charge of public relations. It's her job to be sure the company is well-represented in the community. And this weekend the county SPCA held its annual Pet Expo, which we annually sponsor - it highlights pet services, animal adoptions, and other pet-related stuff. So I volunteered to help out.

Visitors were invited to bring their animals along on leashes (mostly dogs, 'cause cats and leashes are natural antagonists) and there were plastic wading pools around the park for drinking and splashing in (pets only).

Even though it was October, and the morning had been very chilly, the afternoon ended up being very hot. So I was not comfortable, and I had to stand the whole time. I was hosting a kid's bean-bag-toss (get three through the mouth of a plywood cat and the winner was entitled to grab a prize (cheap promotional item) out of a bag. The kids were thrilled to win a prize - it didn't matter what it was.

The Husband dropped by briefly and I took a break. We had some soft-serve ice cream and he bought a souvenir SPCA shirt.

It was an all-day event, but I survived and returned home, happy to have helped. Which means I'll be back next year :)
