I met my retirement face to face last night when we visited our financial advisor. We acquired a financial advisor when the Husband's most recent employer went out of business and he was left holding a pension, 401(k) and an IRA with no place to go.
The financial advisor was recommended by friends whose family had used him for years, and he was a very friendly guy. He set up various funds and a stock portfolio in which to invest the Husband's retirement money.
Last night was an update of those investments, and a discussion of my retirement plans (I really didn't have any - my retirement is still at least ten years away), but we discussed how much I wanted my retirement income to be and what I would be doing once I retired (photography and stamping came up).
It did make my retirement a reality though. I hadn't really thought that much about it until then. I probably will get more involved with my photography, and we'll be travelling more than we do too.
But that's then. I can wait.
