I got a new camera. Nothin' fancy - a little snapshot camera - a Canon SD1100 IS.

I already have an equivalent camera from Sony that I was happy with, so why get this new one?

Well, it has this unique feature that I couldn't resist. With it I can take black and white photos with only selected areas in color (e.g. a photo of my niece at my sister's pool is all black and white except for her bright green bathing suit).

It's easy to do - pushing one button highlights a small square on the viewscreen, then, locating the camera so the selected color in the the small square and pushing another button selects the color. Then any photo is taken in black and white, except for the selected color.

It's definitely cool. I won't use it for every picture I take, but it does take regular 8 mp photos as well, so it's a handy snapshot camera too.

Okay, it's a second handy snapshot camera.
