I got the Husband an HD DVD player for Christmas. It was a good price, and we figured we'd end up buying one eventually anyway.

It also helped other folks decide what to get him for Christmas - movies in the HD DVD format.

Now, two months later, the HD DVD format is being discontinued. Blue-Ray discs (which are incompatible with HD DVD) will take over the high definition dvd market.

There is some question as to whether or not studios will still produce HD DVD's for the existing HD DVD players. The consensus is they will not.

But the Husband is not bothered. He now has a unique product that plays only the (what will become) rare HD DVD titles.

BTW, we still have a Beta VCR too :)
