Once a year the local high school holds a one-day craft fair, and yesterday was this year's. I participated last year as a vendor for my stamping hobby, and I managed to pick up a few new people for my regular stamping parties.

They asked me back again this year, and I agreed enthusiastically. I spent days putting together some projects that participants could complete on-site at the fair in an hour or so, plus I had several of the newest catalogs and samples for future projects for the "just-looking" crowd.

My sister and two nieces helped out throughout the day, and a friend and the Husband helped me set up.

But it was not as productive as last year. I did get a few orders and some potential names and e-mail addresses, but no new sign-ups.

I did have a lot of "retired" stamp sets (sets that are no longer made) that I can't use in my demonstrations because they can no longer be ordered. So I brought them along and tagged them at half price. To my surprise, they got scooped up faster than the free candy, and they ended up being a money maker.

But it was a fun day with fun people, and that was my real profit.
