Throughout college I wanted a Triumph TR-6 (British sports car), and about a year or so after graduating, I bought one. I drove it for 12 years. Then the brakes stopped working properly and I put it in the garage, to work on it when I got the chance. That was 22 years ago.

This year the national Triumph convention was in Philadelphia, and a local tv reporter covered it and mentioned that he had a TR-6 of his own in the restoration shop. I e-mailed him asking where he was having it restored and got a reply full of information.

I visited the shop (50 miles away), which specializes in antique British cars, and arranged for them to do the work. Which began Monday and should take several months. But I'll be driving it again when springtime returns.Monday they came and took away my TR-6.

The difference between restoration and repair? $$$
