Temperatures were in the 90's (F.) last week. It' s still summer, and will be for a couple more weeks. But summer has gone by rather quickly this year (and more quickly with every successive year).

And having my little 35-year-old British sports car back on the road this summer has made is pass even more quickly.

Normally, it doesn't get cooler around here 'til after the middle of October, and that seems further away than it is.

But near the end of August (August - is there a more summer month?), I noticed the leaves turning colors. Not a lot, just a few here and there. Less than two weeks later (i.e. today) the back yard is covered with bright yellow leaves. This is about a month ahead of schedule.

I've heard that lack of rain will cause leaves to drop early, but we've had declared droughts before that haven't affected the leaves this early in September.

Not that I'm particularly concerned. I'm just not ready for leaf-raking yet.
