I have five old record players. None of 'em work. I discovered that when I decided to convert my collection of old vinyl records to digital mp3 files. After a day of dusting and cleaning one, then the next, until I got to the last one and still couldn't play any records, I went over to Radio Shack (yes, they still sell 'em) and bought a new one.
I then spent twelve hours converting old lp's to digital files. It was fun. I was listening to stuff I hadn't listened to in decades and couldn't stop until hunger drove me into the kitchen.
I did the same thing the next day. I'm not quite halfway through my collection (I'm not going to do every one, but I did tackle the favorites first).
I'm saving the 45's for last. I have over a hundred, dating back to the fifties.
I sampled the results and discovered that I'd picked up all the pops and scratches from the original records.
Cool!
