I have my semi-annual dental check-up in a coupla weeks. I haven't had any dental problems for two years. For me, that's rare. And because I've gotten away with no problems for two straight years, I've pretty much put tooth dilemmas out of my mind. But the check-up looms directly ahead, and paranoia has begun to play its mind games. I have no tooth or mouth pain, just a vision of expensive dental surgery to save the last few chewing teeth I have. It wouldn't be the first time.
I've estimated that $20,000 has gone into my mouth over the last twenty five years, never to be seen again.
But I know that my apprehensions are all in my head, and I should just put them behind me. And I will. Until the day before the check-up.
