This weekend I did something I hadn't done in decades - attended a high school play.

It was a musical, and our nephew was one part of the 30-piece orchestra (saxophone), and we were there to cheer him on, sort of. Actually, the high school was known for their annual musicals, and they're usually a hit. And this time was no exception.

The musical was "Wonderful Town," an old broadway play that was a movie with Rosalind Russell in 1940. It had a large cast and an even larger crew to handle the twelve scene changes in two acts, but it was really well done. The singing was right on key, as was the orchestra. Lines were delivered naturally, not forced, sound and lighting was coordinated, and the acting was pretty dang professional. High School Tony's are in order. I was impressed.

I was part of my college's drama group eons ago, and I was remembering all the backstage activities, and all the work and coordination it took to get to that point. And what a lotta fun that was then.

And for a brief period I was back in college, backstage during a performance, just like I remembered.
