We went to Disney World last year, and we documented everything on stills and video (as we do anytime we go anywhere).Shortly upon our return, I began editing the video of our adventure, and I planned to get creative. I inserted still pictures among the video clips while adding titles, music and voice-overs (we have Apple's iMovie to thank for that).
I literally spent months on the project. I had edited half the clips and added panning and zooming to the stills for motion effects, when everything crashed. I couldn't get any of it back. I was sufficiently discouraged to just walk away from it and not go back.
That was six months ago. Last week, I decided to try again. I converted 400 video clips to digital files and assembled the 100+ still photos. I'm going to skip most of the voice-overs this time and just let the images tell the story (which they do well). Might add some music though.
I have begun the editing of each clip. It will take time, but it's still fun to do, and I enjoy doing it. I learn new computer skills and I get to be creative.
And eventually, I'll get a video of our vacation out of all this.
