Summer is officially here. Heat, Humidity and Hay Fever. The longest day (daylightwise) of the year. It also marks the beginning of Year Eleven of the Opie Project. Technically, it began January 1, 1998, when we began keeping a log of Opie's captures and releases and writing notes about them, but it was six more months of trial and error before we got a website design we liked (this was all new territory to us at the time). We've met a lot of interesting people from all over the world during that time that we would otherwise never have crossed paths with. The www is definitely cool. And thanks to everyone who has written over the years.
Design of the Project remains my responsibility, and the current design is about a year old. It's gone through a lot of changes over the previous decade, and we've always looking at new ideas.
Now we're considering planning an end game, although the end won't be 'til 2013 (when the domain name expires). That's still five years away, and Hunky and Dorie will keep us supplied with material during that time, but we'll be planning a suitable conclusion along the way. In the meantime, the daily routines and observations will continue to be documented along the way, as always.
Thank you all for visiting!
