The great clutter clean-up of 2008 has begun, mainly because it's just become too obvious to ignore. We are determined to clean house.Of course we've been determined before, and we make a pretty good start at trashing items that haven't seen use in a while, but the stuff keeps coming back. The Night of the Living Clutter.
Last week we tackled the Computer Room (the small bedroom that houses most of our computer-related stuff and found mountains of obsolete hardware and software (which we briefly considered keeping for nostalgia purposes and then realized why we have a clutter problem).
Then I took on the spare bedroom, which had become a catch-all for things we didn't know what else to do with. There were ten-year-old magazines, non-working flashlights (three of 'em), boxes of documents that we don't even know what were for, a couple answering machines and a non-working bathroom scale.
We're turning into those tabloid tv folks who have stuff piled everywhere and can't throw anything away, and their families have to call on Dr. Phil (or some other self-important tv dork) to intervene.
So yesterday I hauled two bags and one boxful of trash and a box of recyling out of the spare bedroom.
And you can't even tell the difference. Yet.
