We have a small spare bedroom we call the Computer Room. It's shelves are stacked with hardware, software, manuals, how-to books and anything else computer related. There is enough room to sit at the computer in there, but that's about it.So this weekend we took it upon ourselves to see what we could do without in that room. It turned out to be quite a lot. Most of the stuff in there was obsolete. The CD-ROM drives, though functional, were ancient and had out-lived their usefulness. There were back-up discs (5.25" floppies) of WordPerfect and Windows 3.1. Even DOS-based games. Remember Lotus 1-2-3 version 1A that required the floppy to be inserted in the computer at all times? Or WordStar (THE word processor of the 80's)? Or dBase II? Or are you not that old :)
And there were books on getting around DOS, an owner's manual for a mouse, and even the installation disk for CompuServe - our novice introduction to the internet in 1997.
We also found a lot of dust, but we gained some shelf space we need for the current crop of manuals, books, hardware and software for the next few years.
