Jan. 12, 2009 Monday
Saturday it was supposed to snow starting in the morning, but it never showed up. Just before dark I decided it would be a good time to run a few errands. When I finished it was dark and snowing rather significantly. I made my way home (not a problem except everybody decides to drive slowly when there is snow falling, even though the roads are dry and nothing is sticking to them).I pulled into the driveway, complimenting myself with having fulfilled a task before any snow accumulated, but then I couldn't find my house keys. I keep them on a separate ring. I searched the vehicle as best I could in the dark and cold, then returned the few miles through the snow to the store and retraced my steps in the store, but without luck.
My sister-in-law is a keeper of our spare keys, but it was a 16-mile round trip and the snowfall was getting heavier. Having no particular choice, I drove on through the dark and accumulating snow, retrieved the key, and returned home.
Sunday morning I went out to get the paper (the temperatures had warmed overnight and the little snow that had accumulated had vanished, leaving just some thin crusty patches of ice crystals), and there behind my vehicle, very obvious in the daylight, were the culprit keys.
Such was my weekend. Adventures in precipitation.
