Feb. 13, 2008 Wednesday
This has been one pathetic excuse for a winter in New Jersey. Just about ten years ago, somewhere in February, we had 32 inches of snow (which I remember spending days shoveling). Just a couple years ago I was not looking forward to driving the Wife to the airport in blizzard conditions - fortunately, her flight was cancelled because of the snow. This year we've had above average temperatures. Just about a week ago the temperature hit 70 (F ). And yesterday it snowed.
We had one other snow this year. Less than an inch. But it looked nice for about six hours, then it was gone.
Yesterday's fluffy precipitation was the same deal. It left a coating, but it lasted on into the night. It'll be gone before noon.
I'm not a snow person. I used to commute 80 miles a day. I dreaded the prospect of snow. But it always looked nice. Except on the Interstate.
Of course winter still has many weeks remaining, and we may yet get that serious snow storm.
But I doubt it.
