Hunky: ...The bird of the day is ...
Dorie: ..... the Blue Jay!Hunky: While the owl is odd and the woodpecker is loud ...
Dorie: ..... the Blue Jay is just plain nasty.Hunky: ...Especially to our neighbor cat, Skittles. Skittles comes up on our deck every morning and we silently communicate through the big glass door for a while.
Dorie: ..Then the Blue Jay shows up and perches on the deck railing, squawking loudly at Skittles. Skittles has learned to ignore him and to continue focusing on us on the other side of the door, which just makes the bird nastier.Hunky: Finally, Skittles will leave, and the Jay will hop around the railing, watching him go down the stairs. Skittles will then head either for the woods or home. Either way, he has to cross open space, and at that point the Jay will swoop down, chattering angrily and buzzing just by Skittles' ear. Skittles will take refuge in the undergrowth in the woods, or under the picnic table behind his house for a few minutes, until the Jay gets tired and moves on.
Dorie: ..But they'll both be back tomorrow to do it again.
